One of the current most controversial aspects of biomedical research is the legal and ethical new challenges that arise from emerging technologies surrounding stem cells. These new technologies and the consequences for the society need to be thoroughly analyzed, discussed, and tightly regulated following ethical values and legal framework of the different cultures in a global setting. Under this agenda, PABSELA emphasizes on these aspects and new challenges, and thus promotes the discussion of the recent advances in stem cell field among the different players of the Argentine society.

In order to increase awareness of these issues in the community, we organized a special session in which international experts will talk on "Ethical, Legal and Social Issues surrounding stem cell research". From Argentina we will have Dr. Lino Barañao who is an expert in transgenic animals and cloning, and from the US we are including Dr. Insoo Hyun, a bioethicist who is the Chairperson of the Ethics and Public Policy Committee at the International Society for Stem Cell Research and author of the International Guideline for Human Stem Cell Research.

This event is open to the entire community at no cost.

The attendance to the ELSI Session is open and free for anyone who wishes to know the latest social issues raised by innovation in stem cell research. However, the space is limited, therefore a registration is required. If you would like to attend, please send us an email with your name to info@fundacioncrimson.org
